The most important thing first: Volumio Preciso was a truly remarkable upgrade for my audio chain. To be honest, I'm a "vinyl kind of guy" and digital music playback has always been more or less in second place for me. But since it has become possible to get audio files online in the wonderful DSD256 format since a couple of years (I'm thinking of, for example, https://www.nativedsd.com), I acquired a Cambridge Audio MXN10 streamer some time ago and was pretty happy with it. This was a pretty simple built nice streamer with ES9033Q chip which could play all music formats on a pretty high level. The sound of DSD256 audio files comes pretty close on the sound of analog equipment if you know what I mean. So, I thought, if I get such good results with an integrated device (streamer + DAC), why shouldn't I try to get a most up-to-date dedicated DAC which will cover my purposes and started googling around. In youtube I stumbled over a nice video by Harley Lovegrove from Pearl Acoustics telling about his experience with Volumio Rivo + and I got interested about Volumio in general. This is how I found out information about Volumio Preciso. I ordered one and it has been delivered from Italy to Germany in a few days without any kind of complications. The first impression when unpacking was that you are holding a much more expensive product than it actually is. There is absolutely nothing cheap about the DAC. Aluminum case, relative weight, haptics, precision of the switches. Everything is top-notch! The first tests I did were parallel tests with high resolution (24/192) and redbook (16/44.1) files over the SPDIF input. I used my Cambridge device as a player connected directly to analog inputs on my amp and in parallel as a transport, connected over SPDIF output to Preciso. Preciso was connected to another anaog input of the same amp, so I could just start music on Cambridge and switch between the inputs. Music files came from USB-connected SSD and from my NAS. Both ways sound great, but I was somehow disappointed, because there were no noticable difference between those two DACs - integrated one and Volumio - regarding the sound quality or stage or separation and so on. Mind you, freshly unpacked and switched on. After a few hours of testing, Volumio suddenly connected and took off. There were suddenly completely different colors and a whole different precision at play. So, since I could not transport my beloved DSD256 files from Cambridge to Preciso because of lack of outputs on Cambridge side, I installed pretty quick Volumio OS on a mini PC (which by the way is amazingly simple) and connected it to DAC over USB cable. And this combination made my day. The sound of digital music (mostly DSD256 but also the various hires formats and Redbook) running though this DAC is insane clean with zero noise and fantastic timing. It is also very precise in music playback when it comes to the different colors. The DAC does not exaggerate in any way. The well-produced tracks are a huge pleasure and some CDs (not really my thing) create a surprisingly immense virtual scene. On the other hand, if the music is poorly produced, the DAC does not hide or embellish the flaws at all. So, my conclusion is that this DAC is another pretty big step on my way to my personal audio nirvana (not the band ;) ). And somehow I suspect that the next step will probably be the Rivo+. But I am not there yet, I need to experiment a bit more. Thank you dear Volumio team!

Just wanted to let you know that the Rivo Plus arrived in pristine condition. Once I saw the box at my front door a couple of days ago I dropped what I was doing and hooked it up to my headphone system (Holo Audio Cyan 2 DAC to the ZMF Aegis Tube Amp connected to the ZMF Bokeh headphones.) After watching several glowing reviews for your product, I just couldn't wait to see if it made that much difference. Marco, it does and I am gobsmacked at the dynamics, expanded sound stage, the clarity and the timbre - all is superb! Marco please extend my thanks and appreciation to the outstanding team at Volumio - you guys rock!

The Rivo+ certainly helped to create an even better sound via my DAC. I am very pleased with this purchase. The only slight negative was as I inserted the Network LAN cable .....unfortunately a small section of the network connection plastic housing broke away making the connection not as solid/stable as I would like. Everything still works however. Maybe a more robust NET connection would be a further plus!

I bought the Volumio Rivo about two years ago. As the Rivo works excellently and sounds just as good, I was curious to see whether the LINEO 5 would be an improvement on the standard power supply unit. In fact, I can only confirm what many people write in the Volumio forum! This power supply is the best addition to the Rivo streamer. A friend of mine has a very expensive streamer that cost around €13,000. When we compared the sound of our streamers, my friend was amazed to realise that there was virtually no difference between the two! LINEO 5 from Volumio - a clear recommendation from me! I was skeptical about the difference in sound would be created by an LPS, but when paired with my Rivo plus, the most noticeable was the bass extension, and some tightening in the midrange. All of course, we're for the better. More obvious on my reference system of Chord, Sim Audio, Totem metals. Am tempted to try an LPS on my Chord gear now.

I bought the Rivo+ together with the Lineo5, very good investment! Installation was dead simple,, products look very good. Communication with Volumio support was also very good. My previous Volumio setup (X86 with linear PSU) was very good but this Rivo+ with Lineo immediately gave a very good improvement. Clarity and noise level much better. Also very handy that the Rivo+ has a stand-by so resume later works very good. My next purchase will be the Preciso, as soon as the remote is deliverable I will buy the Preciso. As I have active speakers I need the remote for volume.

Love the styling of the unit and the UI looks good. Had a few issues with the software not seeing the device, especially in standby. Everything seemed slow and laggy. Turned off standby which improved things. I eventually turned off WiFi as I have a wired connection. Everything then was more responsive. Turned the WiFi back on to see if I could replicate the issue but no. Everything was working as expected. I even turned on the standby function and all is good. The sound.. fantastic! Now beginning to LOVE this unit!!

I appreciate that the Volumio team is sending the missing Motivo psu to me. I believe I will receive it in a couple of days. For now, I am using an aftermarket psu. I have to report that the Motivo is really a great, great streamer. I read a couple of reviews before I placed the order. My ears confirm these reviews are accurate. I uploaded my first Motivo sound test using an aftermarket psu since I have not received the original Motivo psu yet. Impossible Communication to This company. My Rivo + does not come on from day one. I Even purchased the upgrade power supply. After 2 weeks I get one email response . Said eventually someone would help..Still 3days later NO HELP..........

Hello, After several weeks of listening, the Rivo Plus just keeps getting better and better. The blacks are deep, instruments are well-defined and easy to pinpoint, and the soundstage is wide. There's a touch of three-dimensionality, though perhaps my speakers could be upgraded to enhance this aspect further. The sound is very neutral—musical, yet also analytical—which makes it flexible depending on your mood and your system’s synergy. My current system: Speakers (I alternate between two sets depending on the occasion) 1. GR Research fully upgraded XL Encore — for dedicated listening sessions 2. Wharfedale Evo 4.4 — for party time Subwoofers 2 × SVS SB16 Ultra DACs Holo Audio Cyan 2 Gustard R26 (both are R2R DACs) Streamer Rivo Plus with Plixir linear power supply (I already owned this power supply from my original Rivo, so I didn’t need the Lineo. However, a linear power supply is a must—sound improves dramatically. If you don’t have one, get the Lineo.) Preamplifier LTA MicroZOTL preamp with upgraded tubes Amplifier Musical Fidelity M6s PRX Local Streaming Roon Nucleus One, also powered by a Plixir linear power supply Sound signature: My system leans toward a laid-back sound. I don’t like an “in-your-face” presentation because I typically enjoy long listening sessions and want to avoid ear fatigue after an hour or so. Streaming service: Tidal I primarily use Tidal Connect with the Rivo Plus, as I find it sounds noticeably better than streaming through Roon. The Roon protocol subtly alters the sound; in A/B comparisons, it’s easy to distinguish the more direct and open presentation when streaming via Tidal Connect. Why I chose the Rivo Plus: I chose the Rivo Plus because it delivers excellent value for its price—and it scales well as you upgrade your system. It is a pure streaming transport—no DAC, no preamp, nothing else—allowing you to tailor your sound by pairing it with your choice of DAC, amplifier, preamp, and speakers. The sound is clean, articulate, and deep; blacks are truly black, and everything flows effortlessly. You can build a very good system around it without breaking the bank.

The Rivo Plus is outstanding. I have never been so pleased with an Audio product in my life. The extra cost is more than worth choosing the Plus over the Rivo. Also I highly reccomend to get the upgraded power supply as a combo if possible. I already had a Pura Power Supply the DODO nuc model and the Rivo went from fantastic with the stock power supply to euphonic with the upgrade power supply.

I am not a person who drives expensive cars or plays a lot of golf. So, I have some funds for my audiophile hobby. I really enjoy music and tinkering with various components and Volumio became a good vehicle for tis hobby. I often wondered if a good streamer could improve the sound quality. And so after careful consideration, I pulled the plug on the riVO. And now I know that a quality streamer can improve SQ. Yes, it can and the RiVO does it generously. I love that the RiVO is a standalone streamer and can be the source of my music for years to come as I switch out DACs, AMPs and Speakers. The RiVO looks great whether you have it out front or tucked away. I can still tinker with the DIY elements of the software, with all the plugins and settings etc., Also, I like the feeling that I am part of the Volumio community and the Volumio team and user community has treated me well. RiVO is a darn good product!
