"Young Jesse Tevelow is on to something. His new book, The Connection Algorithm, is chock full of phenomenal strategies for a better life. If you're ambitious and motivated, The Connection Algorithm could be your roadmap to success."
--Tony Horton, Creator of P90X (Over $500 million in sales.)

Ever wish you could be a little more extraordinary? A little happier? A little more in control of your life? Well, this is your blueprint for making it happen.

It might sound crazy, but it all starts with quitting your 9-5. Jesse should know. He quit his job to join TechStars, a startup accelerator that helped him and his business partner build a multimillion dollar company from the ground up. Then he wrote this book, while lounging at the beach.

Sound impossible? It's not. This isn't just Jesse's story. It's the story of every successful person you've ever known--and all of them have followed the same formula. After nearly a decade of interviews and research, Jesse has compiled the ultimate playbook for defying the status quo, weaving together the most critical yet overlooked tips from industry heavy-hitters like Ben Horowitz, Tim Ferriss, and Steve Jobs. The book provides important (and counterintuitive) advice on how to:

Get more productive
Follow your passions
Improve your health
Launch your first product or company
Take better calculated risks
Start connecting with your heroes

...and much more. Beyond advice, you'll also find lists of the actual sites, services, and techniques you can use to improve your performance in a range of disciplines.

Join Jesse as he outlines the power of the Four C's: Choose, Commit, Create, Connect. The Connection Algorithm is a quick read, with life-altering impact. With endorsements from Tony Horton and Brad Feld, and a foreword by TechStars Founder and CEO David Cohen, you'll be glad you added this inspiring, actionable guide to your collection.

From the Author

This book covers everything from following your passions, to improving your health, to launching your first product. I've spent years working on it, and I'm quite happy with the results. Throughout the writing process, I met with people like Tony Horton, Tyler Ward, and The Minimalists, gathering real-world examples of how to take calculated risks, make meaningful progress, and live a fulfilling life. I've compiled counterintuitive tips from prominent business leaders like Tim Ferriss, Brad Feld, and Ben Horowitz, among others. Beyond advice, you'll also find lists of actual products and services you can add to your toolbox, so you can be sure you're firing on all cylinders as you trek through this journey called life.

I truly hope my book provides value, and helps you push your limits. Heck, that's why I wrote it in the first place.  --J

There is no reason not to do what you love!
I took a moment to read the "unhappy" reviews...Don't ask me why I just did. But in doing so the thought that seemed to come up common was that the "ideas" presented "were nothing new". And in that, I can agree for there is nothing "new" under the Sun! But having recently returned to the pursuit of passion I cannot agree with their position that there is no value in what was presented. It seemed that their underlying issue centered around the author's own experiences rather than the purpose for sharing those experiences. Personally having started many life ventures that at one time or another "tanked" I found the relatability factor of the author's sharing on point and relevant. I will also add that the last four paragraphs of the book were absolutely the crowning advice of the entire work! There is no reason to not do what you love! I currently live in an RV with my wife and our cat Jake traveling the entire country singing and sharing my life story. And the joy of the journey is worth all the "failures" it took to get to this place! Thanx Jesse... Good read!

Handsome young Jesse Warren Tevelow is an entrepreneur and writer. He cofounded PlayQ Inc., and was a member of the inaugural class of TechStars. Earlier in his career, Jesse worked for Seamless (acquired by Aramark in 2006) and Keynote Systems. Jesse has been featured in various publications, including Businessweek Magazine, Do More Faster, and Upstarts.

In the Foreword to Jesse's book TechStars Founder and CEO David Cohen reminds us of a time that changed many of our futures: `In 2007, the world was different. We were only six years removed from 9/ 11, and America was still trying to find its footing. Then came the financial crisis of 2008, commonly referred to as "The Great Recession." During that time, there were a lot of discussions about whether or not it was a good idea to start a company. There were two very distinct viewpoints: It was either an especially good time or an especially bad time, depending on who was making the argument. While some saw an unstable economy and a consumer-base more intent on saving than spending, others saw cheaper labor costs and reduced competition.' He then acknowledges Jesse's part in his own company's success: `Jesse's message: Our decisions make us who we are. The lines between success and failure, friendship and missed connection, happiness and unhappiness, barrier and breakthrough, are far thinner than we might imagine. Our mentality, and the decisions we make based on that mentality, play a huge role in our trajectory through life. Wherever you go in life, I hope you'll let the principles of the Connection Algorithm guide you.' Pretty powerful homage to this excellent book.

In Jesse's words he describes the background to his - and our - success: ` I'm nobody special--yet I've achieved things most people only dream about. So why is it a reality for me, and a dream for nearly everybody else? My intuition is that people's perception of risk and failure keep them in "ZombieLand" (my term for the hamster's wheel of perpetual drudgery that most of us endure as a result of the 9-5 lifestyle). The Connection Algorithm urges people to break away from that life, to reject the status quo and build a new paradigm that revolves around calculated risk, passion, and independence. It also explains how several trends over the past decade have made today the very best day to take the leap. I describe The Connection Algorithm as a mindset, and I truly believe it has the power to usher in a new generation of entrepreneurs who will challenge everything we know about today's working world, which will in turn change our entire culture. This new world is full of freedom, stability, and unlimited personal growth--for those bold enough to explore it. To quote a line from the book: "If this sounds too good to be true, it should. The doubt of the crowd affords opportunity to the few."

It is this `mindset' that Jesse brings to the forefront of his guidance in assisting all of us to make that step into success. And from the way he presents it, he makes believers of us all Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, August 15

This book covered a lot of great information and presented the information in a very clear and concise manner. It's not often in books of this kind that you actually get practical tactics you can use right away.

Some of the things that I loved about this book are:

I really enjoyed Jesse's self-reflection through out the book and the way he used his old journal entries to help show his mindset when he started his journey. I hadn't seen that approach before used in this type of book and I think it really helped to ground me (the reader) with Jesse as a real person.

I enjoyed watching Jesse's mindset and strategies for life develop as I progressed through the book. It was nice to read about someone who was in Zombieland and found his way out. It makes the reader feel that if he can do it so can I.

I really enjoyed how Jesse took the time to describe Zombieland and to show the reader how to identify it and how to find your way out once you're ready.

I also loved all of the stories and people that Jesse interviewed for the book. A lot of the people he interviewed were people I already follow and have been studying for many years so it was good to see I've been on the right path and that we share the same mindset on the people we choose to study and learn from.

Last but not least I really loved Jesse's passion and energy for the topic he was talking about. His passion and energy came throughout the book and struck me at many points as I was reading the book. It's not often that you can feel a person's passion and energy through their written words and this is definitely something that I think Jesse excels at doing. He knows how to connect and that's worth a lot to me in this day and age. Many people can speak to you, but not everyone can make you feel.

All and all I think this was a great book, and I've already downloaded Jesse's next book "Hustle" so I can start reading it.

Have read over 60 books in the last 2 years (about 30 in the area of career/personal development ) and this book is definitely the BEST book I've read out of all of them!! The eight page introduction does a very good job in letting the reader know what it is and what it is not. It’s about taking action, not letting fear take over, not being overly concerned about what people might think of what you are doing, doing things you enjoy, taking care of your body, life hacks, passion, career, connecting with people that can help you with your cause and repaying people back that help you and much more. From somewhat of a short book (4.5 hour audio) there is a lot of very useful information and way too much to try to explain in a book review.

Even though I've gone on to other books this book is now the one that I go back to every once in a while and listen to for 20 min or so until the next time I want to hear it again. Every once in a while when I want to get a good dose of reality I listen to that last part of the book which is actually the blog that resulted in writing the book. I might even suggest reading/listening to that part first. This is one of those books and which you really miss reading it once you've completed it, it's kind a like a movie that you watched and then the movie is over you wish it was not over. It's amazing how the English word can work, a certain word, a certain phrase, a certain voice inflection or voice tone can really make a significant impact. Jesse the author even has a Facebook page for like minded people

The narrator of the book is a guy named Michael Pauley and this guy does a great job, so good I spent the effort to track him down to tell him what a great job he did. Michael is a great narrator, speaker and actor but there's no way he could've narrated the book without being fully committed to the real message of the book.

Great job Jesse and Michael! Keep doing what you guys are doing to help people!

When i saw this book, i was quite skeptical since i was unaware of the author and i always try to read and absorb works of accomplished entrepreneurs.
But,when i read the description of this book and about the author i knew this is what i needed, i'm about to start a startup and quite stuck in the process, so this was a quite a nice read for me.
First of all, the author uses simple language so,i finished the book in few hours, don't let the simplicity fool you, he talks about his life, his works and the effects of him not being a co founder anymore.
The main aspect that i liked about the author was that he is relatable, how he counters depression and failure and on the other side how he enjoys his passion is clearly seen in this book.
I read quite a lot of book based on business and entrepreneurship and this book might not give you a step by step instruction how to win at business but he prepares you how to deal with it. And he also lists the tools used by him to make his life easier and according to his passion, i won't list or post snippets of his work but i can tell you it will be a good read.
If you re thinking about starting a business or changing your life according to your passion, then this book is for you.
The main aspect i liked about him is his honesty, he encourages his readers to post a honest review here and allows you to share his work since its not copyrighted. All in all, it was certainly worth my time and i hope it will be yours too.
