- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2012I found this book to also be refreshing, not the same old, same old as usually preached to women. Recharges ambition. Offers practical steps to one's goal. As a retired Mother of two women one in her 50's the other in her 40's even though they are career accomplished, in this economy and with my longevity of life and experience this book offers very sound reasons and methods of providing for a "Plan B" if needed or desired. This book will be in their Christmas stocking's this year.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2017This is the best book on career reinvention! She does a fantastic job of coaching you with powerful questions that truly get to your heart and soul bypassing all the confusion and shoulds in your head. Excellent exercises take you from floundering and lost to clarity and confident. LOVE!
I'm a career coach and I'm recommending this book nearly every single day to clients.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2010I started reading this book and could not put it down. Pamela Mitchell has an amazing sense of what people are really going through in their search for true fulfillment in their work and in their lives. She offers so many practical strategies and in a do-able order. Her "extras" at the back of the book and available on her website offer huge value to the reader. I would recommend this book to anyone who is "searching" and is ready to work with a powerful plan.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2013I met Pamela Mitchell in 2005 at one of her workshops and have become one of her regular disciples now. In the interest of full disclosure, I was actually interviewed for this book (p 125). Pamela's knowledge and insight amaze me and I've kept her guidance in my head every time I've worked on my profession development and career changes over the past 7 years. A great read and a lot of helpful information in here!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2012Takeaway's from this book were too little. I had hoped this book would be a "one stop shop" for career reinvention; I found I needed to purchase other workbooks. I do not have the support system "board" to help me through this process. I found it offensive to call the people you're attempting to meet and interview with as "Natives". I did enjoy the story about Alton Brown. I watched the author's interview on one of the popular television talk shows. The author was motivational.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2010I usually don't do reviews often, mainly because I'm not a writer, or maybe it's because I have nothing to write. However, this book is the one of the best books I read in a while. I give it 2 thumbs up for the Arther, she is great. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially if you trying to re-invent your thought process and changing careers.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2011Great book--I even purchased extra copies as gifts for friends who are also at a crossroads and yearning to do something more meaningful. The author, Pamela Mitchell provides real life examples which makes it an engaging read and even more importantly, she is direct and honest about the pitfalls people will encounter on the path of career reinvention--all the while very inspirational.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2014Career profile on local shaker & mover: he cited this book as very influential in his beginnings. I checked it out from the library, read it, and loved it so much that I bought my own copy so I could dog-ear pages to quickly refer to for great info.
