exactly what I was looking for!

I have a memory loss condition and constantly feel like I'm chasing my own tail, trying to remember what I've done and where I've been. Journaling is massively helpful but it can be so tedious trying to get it all down on paper and then still having everything in so many different places. Between the calendar features, customizable templates, social media and cloud syncing, and the multitude of tagging and search capabilities, it is everything I needed. ideas for improvements: I would love a view option for "focus mode" where the only thing on my screen is the writing part. The extra features are AWESOME but being able to see them all the time while I'm writing (and so colorfully) can be a bit distracting for me. Additionally, I use Apple Activity and an apple watch for my step tracking. That would be amazing to see if possible. I'm not sure how to access that through Fitbit unless I can get the Apple watch to sync there? Haven't tried but that's all I've got!

Developer Response ,

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback and your suggestions. I will consider a focus mode for a future update. I would love to incorporate Apple Health data but Apple only allows access to that data for "Health apps". It could be possible to sync the data to Fitbit and then connect to that in Diarium though

PERFECT JOURNAL

I just got my first MacBook ever and wanted to get into journal on here. I find writing to be physically painful lol after just a few paragraphs my hands are tired. So I tried a number of apps for my MacBook. A lot of them were great, some had TOO many features for no reason. But they all wanted monthly subscriptions. Which I really don’t understand. I just need to write and have it stored nicely. Not sure what kind of future improvements are needed for journaling to require an app to have monthly subscriptions. So that is definitely where this app is different. A single payment for the premium features. Which I don’t know yet what they are because I just got this app, wrote one entry found it to be absolutely perfect & decided to get the pro version to support the developer. I will absolutely be using this app everyday. Thank you!!

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the great review! I'm really glad you're finding Diarium straightforward and fitting well with your new MacBook. It's awesome to hear you appreciate the one-time payment approach. Hope it continues to meet your journaling needs effortlessly. Happy journaling!

A great journaling app that could be even better

Diarium is a great app. It works well and the developer listens and responds to feedback. There are just three things keeping Diarium from five stars in my book:

1) The design could use more polish. I'd especially like to see recent posts in a sidebar and have a search bar present all the time at the top of the app.

2) Speaking of search, you can't search for more than one term at the same time unless those terms are immediately adjacent to each other in the text of an entry. This is a big issue for me and others.

3) Most Mac and iOS users these days expect purchases to be universal across devices, so when you buy an app on your Mac, it's also available for your iPhone. While it's great that Diarium is available for the iPhone, it does feel unusual that it's a separate purchase. That said, it should very much be celebrated that the app is a one-time purchase and not a subscription.

Developer Response ,

Thanks a lot for your fair review & feedback! Please let me give a short comment to each of your points:

1) I agree with that and I hope to find ways to make the app feel more polished.

2) This is indeed a popular request in the community forums and I hope to implement this in a future update (once I am done working on the topics I think are more important). Please feel free to comment on the thread in the forums. For example, should there be a way for a user to differentiate between the current search mode and the new one that searches for each term individually? Or should the app do both modes automatically? How should the terms be separated in the search box and how to force the app to treat multiple words as one term instead of individual terms? Can you give an example on what you tried to search for that Diarium wasn't able to find?

3) The way I designed the Pro version is (what I think) the cheapest way to offer the app to users. It may be "unusual" to have the Pro version separate for iOS and macOS, but so is that the app doesn't rely on a subscription to offer a cross-platform experience, right? If I tried to have one single payment that works for all platforms Diarium is available on, it would have to be so much more expensive which doesn't help anyone in the end. I tried to explain this topic in more detail in the FAQs and I also inform users about how the Pro version works before they decide to buy the app

Thanks again for your feedback!
