Music is an emotional experience; it triggers emotions in us that makes us happy, smile or even to get up and dance; and when it comes to music, most of us have come to rely on our phones as a primary listening devices; they hold thousands of songs and they are easy to use but cramming so many features into one device comes at a cost and that cost is sound quality.

With Amp.i.Am, listening to the music simply becomes more fun.

The Digital to Analogue Converter delivers an optical sampling rate of 24bit at 48 to 192KHz and coupled with a high-performance headphone amplifier, it makes your favorite headphones sound their best and all within an extremely portable form factor that is designed to feel like part of your headphone cable.

Who we are?

Magtunes is a small company based out of Sydney and was founded by a 3 passionate individuals from the worlds of business and technology. At Magtunes, we are on a mission to make premium audio products accessible to everyone. Premium audio products at affordable prices and achieve a perfect balance between size, price and acoustics. We are small but fearless trio that think outside the square and love challenging the status quo.

In recent months we launched Lumiére followed by Buoy and BigBuoy, As you can see from both campaigns, we delivered 3 great products as described with high quality craftsmanship on time.

We are hoping that the Magtunes design philosophy would continue to resonate with & be validated by the IGG community.

Risks and challenges

We’ve worked hard over the last few months to get the Amp.i.Am to this point and we've successfully completed critical milestones with the help of many knowledgeable people. We have interviewed, visited and selected a very reputable manufacturer who offers great engineering support and development tools. What remains is completing the manufacturing phase and so we're confident that manufacturing risk is at a minimum.

We anticipate a manufacturing period of 2 months from the end of the campaign to start shipping Amp.i.Am to you. This is possible because we’ve already completed our R&D, obtained our Apple MFi certification and the rest we can complete with your help and have Amp.i.Am shipped to you 10 weeks after the end of this campaign and in time for the holidays and with you no later than December 15.

While we have taken every effort to test the compatibility of Amp.i.Am with many headphones, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every headphone set out in the universe. There are simply too many to test with and we are sure there will be several headphones that Amp.i.Am cannot fully support including but not limited to performance, controls or amplification. We guarantee compatibility and performance with Apple supplied wired headphones with the 3.5mm audio jack.

FAQ

Does Amp.i.Am improve sound quality with a mediocre pair of headphones?
To deliver detailed and delicate sound to headphones requires many things. An amplifier is one of them. The purpose of AMP.I.AM  is to enhance the sound source by using hi-fi codec to make a difference in your overall listening experience.


Does AMP.I.AM  support Windows or Android Phones?
No. Amp.i.Am is strictly for i-devices such as the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with a Lightning connector.

So this AMP.I.AM  thing can't be plugged into the headphone jack? 
That's right. AMP.I.AM  can only be connected to Lightning

Does AMP.I.AM  consume a lot of power then?
Take iPhone 6 as an example, an hour of music playing consumes 5% power.


Can I use a Lightning to 30-pin adapter to make it fit on iPhone 4S? 
Sorry. The Audio Lightning Adapter does not support an adapter

Will you consider making a Bluetooth version?
We'd not consider a Bluetooth version before finding an effective solution to improve the sound quality of compressed files

Is Amp.i.Am compatible with all headphones?
No. While we have taken every effort to test the compatibility of Amp.i.Am with many headphones, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every headphone set out in the universe. There are simply too many to test with and we are sure there will be several headphones that Amp.i.Am cannot fully support including but not limited to performance, controls or amplification. It is just for headphones or could I use it with loudspeakers too?
Amp.i.Am  can also connect to active speakers

Will there be a type-C version?
We don't have plans to develop type-c models for now

Can I still receive phone calls with my ear buds mic?
You can still receive calls and the inline mic of your earbuds would function correctly

Besides iPhones, does it work with iPads, iPod Touch, and iPod nano?AMP.I.AM  works with iOS devices that support USB audio. So only iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch with Lightning. Not compatible with iPod nano

How do I give you my address / choice of color / combination?
