Description

In 2024, Oxford made “brain rot” the word of the year. The term means long, mindless scrolling on social media.

But are social media really that bad? They still help us work, connect, and study.

We believe the key is balance. Taskfulness helps you keep valuable interactions while limiting the doomscrolling.

The results: our members save 28-36% of their screen time daily, without missing out.

Want intentional screen time? Try Taskfulness free for 7 days.

Built on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy principles.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pick an app

Select the apps that steal most of your time. For example, Instagram, WhatsApp, Reddit, Gmail, etc.

2. Set intention

Each time you open a chosen app, Taskfulness will pop up and ask: “Why do you need it?” and “For how long?”. Once you enter the reason, the app opens.

3. Stay focused*

Use the app for the duration you set. Mid-session, you’ll get a quick reminder of your original intention. When time’s up, the app closes automatically.

*works only with Reminders on

WHY TASKFULNESS

- No deleting accounts: Use social media intentionally.

- Saves time: Our users reclaim an average of 28-36% or 14 hours of screen time per week.

- Strong against procrastination: Combats reactiveness, time blindness, and distractions.

- Built with expertise: Created by founders with ADHD, based on CBT, and approved by psychologists for effectiveness and safety.

Good but a bit unpredictable

I LOVE this app. It had helped me to be more mindful of my phone use. However, there are some issues with it. The settings go to their default mode once in a while. The option to click “I don’t need it” disappeared. And yesterday, the intention check disappeared from the app. Giving a bit of certainty of this will help the app a lot. I am willing to pay for a version that includes those features again.

wow. wow. wow.

this is my most favorite thing on my phone now. please, PLEASE, don’t ever make it a subscription based app or something like the rest of the world is doing which ruins apps because what you guys have here is incredible. I set an intention, and while I’m using my app, actuflow sends notifications asking me if I’m still on track, while timing my session, waiting for me to get back and reflect on my phone usage. Its integration with the apple shortcuts system is so seamless and never fails! It’s really freaking lovely. I am on my first day of using it but as long as I don’t neglect the system and always respect it, I can definitely see it changing my relationship with my phone in a positive way. Thank you so much actuflow, I think this app is what’s gonna help me with my phone addiction more than anything else on the phone itself will. I don’t need the premium version, but I may pay for it anyways just to support you guys because I love what you’re doing.

New AI chat function is surprisingly good

I have been using the app for a while and find it pretty helpful already. Then the AI chat function was added with a recenupdate and I am kind of blown away. I thought it would feel gimmick-y. But actually, it helps make the app useful beyond just my phone addiction. It helps me figure out when I may need to eat instead of scroll, how much time I should spend on a task (and then visually reminds me that this is the task I’m supposed to focus on), and it even helped me figure out how to get on with my day when I got sidetracked because I was tired and scattered. It’s hard to explain how this is possible, but I think it replaces the missing “voice in my head” that should ask me “hey, are you tired? Aren’t you supposed to be doing xyz right now? Is there something else you were meaning to do?” And basically non-judgmentally tells me “It’s okay, you can do this.”
